We’ve all been there, where we know we should be working out, but we’re just not in the mood. Finding the motivation to achieve your fitness goals can be tough, especially if you don’t want to work out.
Good News! There’s a simple easy trick that you can use in 2017 when you’re not feeling motivated:
Healthy Tip # 8 - Think yourself healthy!
Use the power of your mind to motivate yourself. Imagine yourself as that person you want to be - it’s easier than you think! Simply think of yourself as already having achieved whatever goal you’re working towards. If your goal is to lose 15 pounds, think of yourself as already having achieved that. Think about how you would be living your life and the choices that you would be making. Someone who’s lost 15lbs would likely be making healthier food choices and doing regular physical activity moving around freely and actively - these healthy habits would already be a part of their life. So when you make a decision, ask yourself - is this what my 15 pound lighter self would be doing right now?
Another example: if you want to train for your first triathlon or 5k. It can be tough to have the discipline to get up early every morning to train (or to train after work when all you want to do is relax on the couch!). Think of yourself as an athlete already - what choices would an athlete make? The athlete would have a fitness routine that they put first - there’s no question of IF they are going to train, it’s what and when they’re going to do it.
Once you shift your mindset to thinking as if you’re already at your health goal, it makes it so much easier to be motivated to live that lifestyle! So give it a try - you can do this! Think yourself healthy and behave like one, in 2017!
