You’ve probably heard that you should drink more water to be healthier, but this sounds so boring, right?! The truth is, water is essential for us to be healthy and feel good. 60% of our body is made up of water. It helps us to flush out toxins and keeps us feeling full (often if you feel hungry less than 4 hours after you ate, you may just be thirsty!).Â
Tip #5 - Drink more water! Here’s 3 easy and fun ways to get more water:
1. Make ‘spa water’ - the fancy spas often use cut up fruits, veggies, and herbs to make ‘spa water.’ Here are some yummy combinations to try:
- strawberry and basil
- blueberry and cucumber
- lemon and mint
- watermelon and cilantro
2. Carry a water bottle with you all the time - this is an easy habit to get into, and if you always have water nearby, you’ll find yourself sipping away throughout the day. You can also leave one on your desk at work, one in your car, and one at home. If it’s convenient and in front of you, you’re more likely to use it!
3. Try tea - there are so many flavors of tea to try, that you can surely find something that tastes delicious. You can enjoy it hot or iced, and it takes just a minute to make. Here are some of the different types of tea you can try:
Green tea is known for its antioxidant health benefits and calorie-burning effect (extra bonus for weight control). One big nice thing about green tea is that with its combination of caffeine and L-theanine, you get a nice little perk-up yet in a calm and clear-headed way (unlike coffee which tends to give you a high and low energy swing, and also dehydrates you).
Black tea - this also has caffeine to give you an extra kick. Black tea has a stronger taste and can come in decadent flavors like chocolate caramel and pumpkin spice. Try mixing a bit of your favorite milk (almond milk is a great choice!) to create a tea latte.
Herbal tea has no caffeine, so is great to use any time of day. Herbal teas are generally lighter in flavor and make a great iced tea!
Experiment with these 3 different ways to drink more water - and find what works for you. This is easy and you can do this! Small changes build up to great results, so take action now!
